Senior Development Manager, Major Gifts

Job Summary:

The Senior Manager for Major Gift will be responsible for creating, implementing, and managing a comprehensive and strategic major gift program, securing large, significant gifts from individual donors. The role will involve cultivating relationships with high-capacity, high net worth individual donors and prospects capable of making gifts and pledges of $10,0000 to $1M+ to support GMF and/or or a specific GMF priority area.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in major gift fundraising, strong relationship-building skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a deep commitment to GMF’s mission.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of a major gifts program that is aligned with GMF’s mission, vision and fundraising goals.
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects, and conducting regular visits, calls, and other communication to build relationships and advance their interests in the organization
  • Collaborate with members of the development team and the board trustees to identify major gift opportunities and create compelling proposals that align with the interests of donors and the organization
  • Develop and implement strategies to recognize, steward and engage donors at all levels, including those who make significant contributions
  • Responsible for staying informed of trends and best practices in the field of major gift fundraising, and continuously seeking to improve the effectiveness of the major gifts program.

Knowledge and Skills Needed:

  • 8-10 years of proven experience in individual fundraising and partnership development for a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exemplary organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with high-capacity donors and prospects
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a history of building relationships through fostering enthusiasm and mutual trust, candor, and respect.
  • Results -oriented, able to see concepts and ideas through to implementation.
  • A strong work ethic with the ability to take initiative, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and use of sound judgment.
  • Excellent tech skills with knowledge and experience with CRM.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards.
  • Passion for the GMF mission
  • Contribute to the overall success of GMF by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, nonprofit management, or international relations required and master’s preferred.

Salary: $101,676 - $ 144,760
